Dance Dance Dance

Dance The Colour Blue is a play with a strong female presence. 5 of the 8 characters are female. And of the 4 major characters, 3 are female. So, I am really delighted to announce that Olivia Ross will direct. Olivia is a theatre director and actor. She is currently assistant director of the upcoming post-punk fever dream Sugar Coat which runs 29 March - 22 April at Southwark Playhouse.

I think it is important that Dance has female direction…but I must stress that Dance is not a female play; it is a play about humanity...

Dance The Colour Blue is a meditation on grief for the people we once were. Working in a Glasgow pub, a lone-artist learns to adapt to the real world from which she can no longer paint her own escape. Slowly she falls into the rhythm of the regulars, one of whom shares a possession of value with her: The Odyssey. The events of one hot summer’s evening leave a particularly lasting impression, influencing her life thereafter. To fulfil a long-standing promise to the dead, she must sacrifice a love in the land of the living.

The play covers themes of mythology, emancipation, and love & loss.

I’m truly delighted to have Olivia on board and excited to see how this project turns out!
